Summertime

Burnham-On-Sea, Somerset.

The weather was glorious all afternoon back home and as usual was pretty good when I left to pick up fellow photographers and friends Mike & Richard. The weather wasn’t bad when we arrived but it wasn’t inspiring either and looked  as if it was going to deteriorate and spoil our chances of a sunset. (more…)

Wind Erosion

Great Staple Tor, South Dartmoor

I know what I wanted to achieve but I surprised myself when I added the B+W 6 stop along with a Lee 2 stop as well to drag the exposure time out to over 3 minutes so late in the evening. As you would expect the fore ground was still in silhouette so a second 1 minute exposure was shot without any filters, these were then blended together in Photoshop to create the final image. Staple Diet

Great Staple Tor, South Dartmoor.

I headed out with fellow NAPC member and friend Richard Taylor again with the initial intention to visit Kennick Reservoir for the rhododendrons but we had heard from several other photographers these are not yet out. A re-think was needed and my first thoughts were to visit the section of River Dart at Holne Bridge but decided to put that one off for another trip as the potential sunset and cloud would be missed down in the valley. Cockwood Tenders

Cockwood Harbour, South Devon.

I can’t remember the number of times I have passed this location in the last six months but what I can remember is the fact there was never any water. I have wanted to shoot this location for a while and when I noticed the sunset, high tide and time of year all fell into place at the same time I knew I couldn’t miss the opportunity. (more…)
