Misty Morning at Howell Lawn, Dartmoor

A misty Howell Lawn on an autumnal morning where the mist is enveloping the slopes and trees below the recognisable outline of Haytor Rocks. For more images of flora and forna click on the image below.

Howell Lawn is a fantastic location and is well know for it’s stunning carpet of bluebell which reach far into the distance. Holwell Lawn is situated on the southern flank of Houndtor Down. There are some 18th century ruins, but today Holwell Lawn is probably best known for its excellent horse cross country course with over 60 moderate fences. The name Holwell probably derives from Holy Well which today is seen at the overgrown source of a spring.
