The Calm Before The Storm

Brixham, South Devon.

During my second of three visits to Brixham today my wife Lisa, our six year old daughter and myself had an opportunity to have a good look around the All Weather Life Boat (ALB) and meet and chat with some of the crew. As a family we are now fully paid up members of the RNLI and feel proud to support such a historic and worthy charity. One of the crew members John Ashford (Deputy 2nd Coxwain) sat our daughter behind the wheel in the Coxwain’s seat which she loved and didn’t want to leave. John gave us all a real insight into the crew’s roles and the all the technology crammed into these vessels which left us all surprised to say the least. For those who have kids you might have seen John on television as he appeared on an episode of Milkshake Monkey.

It was also nice to catch up with James Hoare who is also a member of the lifeboat crew and holds the position of navigator, I met James through my wife Lisa who used to work with James at 4 most Ltd before leaving to look after our daughter. James also joined me on my stag night but that is another story.

Know a few of the crew. Do a fab job. Be working even harder when they shut the coastguard in Brixham.
Nice balance of colour. Dawn or dusk? Looks like dusk but I could be wrong.
